Faith Focus for the Week

How is my personal prayer life helping me know and love Christ better?

Personal prayer is an essential practice in the life of Catholic. Personal prayer is one way of remembering that we are never alone if we are baptized into Christ’s family. Personal prayer helps up give up on the false idea that everything depends solely on our efforts.

Whether saying a traditional prayer like the Our Father, sitting in silence contemplating Scripture, or praying for someone in need, Christian disciples come to know and love Christ better through an ongoing conversation with God.  For example, this Irish Blessing is a prayer you could give to someone you care about as an expression of love. The same prayer can be used as a personal meditation on where you encounter Christ in your own life.

An Irish Blessing
May Christ give to you
at this time and for always
His peace in your soul,
His presence in your heart,
His power in your life.
